Let’s talk a little bit about the subject of pride. According to the Bible pride is very destructive. Pride puts itself before others. Prideful people think that everyone and everything in life was put here to serve them. If things don’t go their way they are upset. Pride is the center of it’s own universe. Pride can’t listen to others; it can’t take the advice of someone else. Pride can’t take correction. Pride can’t accept the fact that it could be wrong. Pride feels it has to have an opinion about everything.
One of the things you notice about those whom God extremely blessed is they were very humble. To be humble doesn’t mean to be weak. Quite the contrary, it means you are a very strong and confident person. Only strong and confident people have the ability to take the advice of others. They realize that they don’t know everything and are not afraid to admit it.
So take a pride inventory today. If you find you have too much of it in your warehouse ship it out immediately! God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. If you want to go places with God you have to deal with the issue of pride.
