One of the revelations that really impacted my life over 40 years ago was the revelation of the believer’s authority. It’s still impacting my life today. The word power in verse 18 is the Greek word that means authority. Jesus had all authority given unto Him then He turned and gave it to us. This is like a spiritual repeat of Genesis 1:26-28 where God gave man dominion over all the earth and then told him to go and subdue it.
I once heard a very famous minister say that we believers don’t have authority over satan and demons. He said Jesus did, but we believers didn’t. When you think about that statement it makes no sense at all. Why would Jesus come and get something He already had? At no time has satan ever had authority over the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit. The truth is Jesus came to earth as a man to get authority back for man. Now all who are in Christ Jesus have authority over satan, demons, and the works of darkness. This is a powerful revelation!
